The report of the 2nd meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group (TG) on ‘Bioeconomy and Climate Action in Rural Areas’ (Brussels, 11 December 2019) is now available online.
Participants in the meeting discussed approaches that encourage bioeconomy actors to apply climate change mitigating practices. Bioeconomy can make a major contribution towards decarbonising the economy, but the land-based biomass producing sectors are still either net emitters of greenhouse gases (GHG) or have a significant untapped potential to increase carbon sequestration in soils and biomass.
