Promoting, developing and strengthening the wood energy sector on a territory
Wood fuel was clearly identified as a local and sustainable resource of our territory inside our LEADER strategy. Our policy aims at promoting the use of wood-fuel in a local development objective. During the last 2 years, Dinan’s LAG has supported the creation of a Cooperative society under the French status (SociétéCoopératived’IntérêtCollectif) located in the Rance territory dealing with Renewable energies. This cooperativecompanyiscalled “Energies Renouvelables du Pays de Rance” (SCIC ENR).
“Dinan pays” is a LAG located in French Britany, in the West of France. It’s a grouping of 7 associations of local authorities where Dinan is the main town. Appointed Local Action Group (LAG) for period 2007-2013, the “SyndicatMixte du Pays de Dinan” is responsible for the implementation of the European program “LEADER” on its territory. The LAG “Pays de Dinan” ’sstrategy is focused on promoting of the quality of life of inhabitants. This strategy is focused on 4 main axes: - Promote of local and sustainable economy relaying on local resources, - Strengthensocial solidarities - Develop a strong culture policy - Developcooperationbetweenterritories
The SCIC ENR du Pays de Rance is specialized on the wooding energy industry: re-planting, management and maintenance of the bocage/ wooden countryside and promotion of that local resource (still underused),production of ripped wood for the supply of commercial boilers, mulching and firewood. It includes 100 members, distributed in 4 categories of partners (employees, farmers and forest owners, local authorities and private individuals, professionals) and is implicated in the dailyfunctioning in diverse activities around the renewable energies and sustainable development. For 5 years, the SCIC organizes and structures a wood industry energy. In that objective, the company has been working in partnership with lots of different actors and hasbeen networking on the field with successful result
A European partner more advanced in the development of a wood-energy industry which already having significant experience and feedback on the sustainability of the benefits/markets/buyers of this industry. For example (but not only): Germany, Austria, Sweden, and Finland.
