LEADER 2012_Mobility concepts to reduce individual transport in rural areas

Considering the demographic change in rural areas the questions of mobility and accessibility are essential. The challenge in the field of sustainable regional development is to find new and individual solutions for the private and public transport. Therefore several activities could be valuable: co-operation platforms with private and public transport organizations; expansion of biking path networks (infrastructures in general), soft mobility solutions (e.g e-mobility, walking path, shared space), car-sharing in rural areas, support of public awareness, ecological aspects, etc...

The rural character of the LEADER region is dominated by the border situation to Slovenia (mountains, valleys) low level of ingrastructure and few jobs. This situation causes a high rate of migration (brain drain). Two strategies of the region against this trend are on the on hand to increase the living standard (ecological aspects) and to improve the (public and private) mobility on the other hand. Several projects concerning biking, e-mobility are already realized, also a mobility office could be established. In two municipalities a private-public partnership taxi service (Go Mobil) is running for several years.

-Exchange of ideas /projects in the field of public transport, modal split, public relations and public awareness; this should be done by international excursions, workshops and common projects -Improvement of the public transport systems and infrastructure (Park&Ride, e-power stations,etc..) -To increase the number of commuters who are using alternative tranpsort systems -Reduction of travel costs -Increase the ecological value in the region (CO2 reduction) -Promotion on alternative mobility solutions (walking, biking, e-mobility, car sharing etc.)
