European Ox-Trails

For nearly 500 years, from 1250 to 1750, the South-German and North-Italy slaughters where delivered by Hungarian and Romanian cattles. The trip with the animals was about 1.000 kilometers and was good business for all. This fact is the basis for further cooperation between LAG's of the countries.

The German LAG "Wittelsbacher Land" started with the idea of transnational cooperation with the project "European Oxtrails" in 2008. Since them, nearly 15 LAG's where found to join the project. There exists a good cooperation-contract, a letter of intent an 1-2 yearly meetings on different locations with the LAG's from the member-countries. We applied also on the European Danube-Strategy to be part of it.

Historical research - What happend during 500 years along the ways. Agricultural and touristical potential-analyses - based on the historical facts - what can we do today. Social affairs - different situations between the memeber-countries. Cultural affairs - learning from each other, studying the culture and tradition.

LAG's along the danube-route in a 100km corridor or from regions where the cattles has been delivered.
