LEADER 2012_Developing rural sustainable tourism in natural area and natural protected area.

We are working on the following points : -Developing an eco-compatible tourism -Creation of a Tourist Welcoming structure -Grouping together local tourist actors -Developing professional training on e-tourism and sustenable tourism -Putting place training programs, a charter on eco actions for providers working towards eco labels -Creation of product lines on different themes linked to this patrimony ; fishing and hunting tourism, discovering ecosystems, bird watching photographing tourism, horse activities, walking paths …

The territory benefits from 2 tourists captive clientele at the coastal towns (40 KM of coastline) and thermal institutions (70000 spa clients in the township of DAX), but suffers nevertheless from an imbalance, the interior benefitting of only a small part of this clientele. However the interior territory is rich in environment and patrimony. The forest, lakes, Adour valley et wetlands are real assets. 15% of the surface of the territory is zoned NATURA 2000, we have 4 natural reserves. Our wish is to also create a synergy with the cultural patrimony (buildings, humans or gastronomic heritage).

We are looking for LAGs working on projects dealing with similar subject: how improve sustainable tourism in rural/natural areas ? Our wish is to co/construct something similar, for example a tourism product (fishing, bird watching, discovering eco-systems...) including the methodology (how take into account environmental constraints? how associate local population? How associate different partners in a network? professional training...) and set up a concrete realisation.
