Acoustic music of the Baltic Sea region people

Promoting the local variations and traditions of playing acoustic music. Promoting the usage and restoration of traditional musical instruments.

In our technological age in creation of music, there is ever-increasing trend to use the computer software. It is hard to imagine the bands without some sort of sound amplifiers and enhancers. These devices provide a faster result which is partly why the practice of playing acoustically is diminishing, this is also evident in everyday life, the skills of playing some specific instruments are getting rarer. Also the traditional acoustic music instruments are in need of restoration. The restoration in many cases is too costly for current owners, and so the instruments and the skills needed to play them are in decay.

The objective of this project is to promote local identity through traditions of playing acoustic music, both traditional and contemporary. To encourage inheritance of acoustic playing skills, and promotion of cultural exchange between the peoples of the Baltic Sea region. The target group is all the musicians who play in the acoustic manner and local society who can become interested in this kind of music. Proposed activities: • Searching for bands and musicians that play acoustically • Restoration of traditional instruments • Master classes • Acoustic music festival
