The ENRD Seminar on Communicating Rural Development

Rural Development Programmes offer a wealth of opportunity for almost 300 million Europeans living in rural areas. They have the potential to make a difference on the way these Europeans live and work together, and on how they manage 90% of the surface of the European Union. However, communication activities around the opportunities offered by the programmes and the benefits brought by their implementation do not always manage to reach the target audience; and their effectiveness is difficult to assess.

Like other EU policies, rural development policy can benefit from “A New Narrative for Europe”, where citizens are better informed, involved and given a voice. Rural networks, both at the European and at the national level, have a key role to play in addressing the communications challenges.

Building on the experience gained over 2007-2013, the ENRD Seminar on Communicating Rural Development focuses on the contribution of communications to improving rural development policy implementation at the EU, Member State and local level. The event provides representatives of Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, National Rural Networks, Local Action Groups or other rural stakeholders with the opportunity to share their experience and engage in discussions about the best and most effective ways of communicating rural development.

Please note that the registration closed on 26 February at 18.00 but you can still take part in the event by registering on-site. Please address all your questions at crdevent2014@enrd.eu.
