Good Practice Workshop on “Choosing and using context indicators for Rural Development 2014-2020” – Lisbon, Portugal – 15 & 16 November 2012

Context indicators reflect the state of the economic, social or environmental situation of the territory, in which interventions of Rural Development Programmes are implemented during the programming period. While designing the RDP, the context indicators are used in the SWOT analysis and in the assessment of needs – the prerequisite of the definition of the programme strategy.

As a contribution to defining the list of common context indicators for inclusion in the implementing rules, a workshop was organized by the Evaluation Helpdesk in cooperation with the Portuguese Gabinete de Planeamento e Políticas (GPP) of the Ministério da Agricultura, do Mar, do Ambiente e do Ordenamento do Território(with support of the Portuguese Rural Network Programme) on 15 & 16 November 2012 in Lisbon. The outcomes of the workshop resulted is a proposal for a revised approach and a refined list of context indicators to be further discussed with the members of the Evaluation Expert Committee in December 2012.
