NRN IMFORMATION

The Hungarian National Rural Network

The Hungarian National Rural Network (NRN) supports the implementation of the Hungarian Rural Development Programme, focusing on the social integration and economic development of rural areas. The Permanent Secretariat of the Hungarian Network Support Unit set up the Hungarian NRN on 1 October 2008.

The Network Support Unit (the Permanent Secretariat of the Hungarian NRN) operates within the National Agricultural Advisory, Educational and Rural Development Institute (NAERD) of the Ministry of Rural Development. Network services are provided by the Permanent Secretariat with the support of the Ministry of Rural Development.

The primary goal of the NRN is to support the implementation of the Hungarian Rural Development Programme, and to focus on increasing the social integration and economic development of rural areas.

The network’s qualitative target is to deliver useful and maintainable services, thereby reaching as many rural stakeholders as possible through network registration.

The main tasks of the NRN are: to develop and enhance channels of communication through information activities; and the exchange of experiences and methodology, with the aim of stimulating dialogue and improving the overall performance and success of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) on a local, regional, national and international basis.

Network Participants

The Hungarian NRN is an umbrella network of pre-existing private and public networks (such as the Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Networks and the Network of Independent Civil Actors) and other organisations involved in rural development. Registration for membership is open to anyone involved or interested in agriculture and rural development. There is no membership fee and no obligations arise from registration.
