Tourism and voluntary associations

The voluntary associations are a big and vital sector in our area. It is also a sector that is doing a lot of work regarding the development of the turism in our municipality. We would like to find one or two partners who are interested in how to increase the entrepreneurship and business skills for that sector.

Timråbygd is a small LEADER territory in the middle of Sweden situated between two cities with 18 000 inhabitants and a territory with both coastline and wilderness. Tourism is a small and relatively new industry in our municipality. Many entrepreneurs that are active in the sector are non-profit organisations and voluntary associations. It can also be cooperation associations as long as their aim is local and rural. We have a regional cooperation with two other Swedish LEADER areas where tourism and voluntary associations are part of the project. We also have many on-going projects within tourism that are owned by different voluntary associations or non-profit organisations.

• Objective: Together find a way to increase and support the entrepreneurship and increase the business skills regarding tourism in the voluntary associations. Share good practice and the experiences between counties. Create a network between participating associations. • Target group: voluntary associations that do work in tourism. • Activities: Activities in participating countries to support entrepreneurship in the voluntary sector.

Partner and participants must be English speaking, not perfect but understandable. We would like our partner/partners to have a great interest in the voluntary sector and to have associations there that are a part of the tourism development. We wouldn’t like that our partner has a too big LEADER area, since the differences between us in money will be too huge. We always do our projects at very low cost and would like to do so even here.
