Popovo municipality is located in the northeast part of the Republic of Bulgaria. Popovo municipality is amongst the municipalities with good environmental conditions. There are no large industrial facilities to severely deteriorate the sanitary conditions and hygienic qualities of ambient air, water and soil. There are still underused opportunities for hunting, rural, cultural and historical tourism as well as for revivification of the tradition of fruit growing and wine-production. The municipality has a well developed market for agricultural products. There are opportunities for growth in demand due to relatively well-developed food industry and availability of manufacturing capacity in this sector.
