LEADER 2012_GEO TOURISM IN THE BAUGES MASSIF REGIONAL NATURAL PARK

According to its target priority «renewal and local tourism as part of an urban/rural dynamic», in relation to gateway towns, the LAG defined its cooperation strategy around geo tourism. In fact, the massif obtained last September the international quality label GEOPARK sustained by UNESCO. This new consecration will increase the number of visitors and all touristic activities, but many actions have to be guided. The GEOPARK label based on the earth and the links that human being maintain with it, include a progress process. All over the massif, special areas called geotop have been identified and have to be well-known. To cooperate with others similar countries must be very rewarding.

The Bauges massif regional Park and its underground galleries are undervalued today, it constitutes the pedestal of all the projects and would be a very good support for the cooperation. It will facilitate the discovery of the diffused underground areas and its components (water, fauna, mineral ressources…) and the connexion in between Man and the subterranean environnement.

- Collaboration and exchanges concerning a “tools case” for GEOPARK discovery, for students and tourism stakeholders. For example, GEOPARK corner, booklets on geotop valorisation, internet network… - Research of transfer of experiences guided in others countries (meeting, adjusted areas…), and of innovative medias resources such as cultural events, internet network... - Training and qualification for tourism partners: developing with other Geopark’s territories, to define and plan a common training scheme for specific audiences: speleologists, guides, receptionists…. - Shared project Construction to develop Geosites exchanges with other territories on tourism offers and accessibility of geospot. Preferably in association with the greater public, strategic planning like geotrails, etc..
