LEADER 2012_Benefit and positive effects for economy, tourism, agriculture, politic and civic by a local product – in case of Eferding: vegetables

The vegetable region Eferding wants to increase its brand awareness and wants to holistically connect the topic vegetables with the terms health, nutrition, climate and regionalism. Across all sectors (agriculture, economy, tourism, education, politic, and so on) the region should show its competence with all its facets through the vehicle of vegetables. This is intended to develop the region as a positive living and working area.

LAG Gemüse-Lust Region Eferding is located 25 km west of the capital of Upper Austria Linz directly at the Danube. Far beyond the limits the natural wonder Schlögener Schlinge is known. But Eferding is especially famous for its long tradition and competence in vegetable growing. Special is the large variety of cultivated vegetables and the small structured form of agriculture. The topic vegetables should no longer be only an agricultural topic – all sectors should promote the topic networked in Eferding and beyond. Beside agriculture economy and tourism should directly and indirectly benefit of this regional brand and they also should make a contribution to apply Eferding as a vegetable-competence-region. Also fruit plays an important role in the region – in the nature park “Obst-Hügel-Land” – therefor this topic is implicit in the development of the region.
