Old Crafts Today

The idea is to motivate youth to explore and get involved in the old crafts that are still alive today. Thus continuing the tradition and motivating youth to stay in rural areas. It involves both craftsmanship and usage of old music instruments.

There are 3 partners – Jūrkante [LV], Cesu Rajona Lauku Partnerība [LV] and Pasvalys LAG [LT]. As the Pasvalys are not yet sure if they can participate in this project we are searching for another partner from Lithuania. Jūrkante has already got the approval from Ministry of Rural Development.

Objectives: • Raising the awareness about old crafts • Involvement of local youth • Exchange of experience • Passing down the knowledge to youth Activities: • Practical workshops with craftsmen and youth • Seminar for craftsmen • Creation of informative brochure that lists all of the involved craftsmen and possibilities to visit them • Fair Target group: local youth and craftsmen
