A local producer of syrups and vinegars in Estonia used EAFRD funding to scale up production to create a business that sells to restaurants, shops and big suppliers.
An Estonian producer of syrups and vinegars from apples and rhubarb was sharing the products with friends and family. But they decided to scale up production with the help of a grant to start a business. They hoped to create jobs, add value to local products and achieve profits. They also wanted to create local job opportunities for their children.
The grant was used to create a factory for increased production including the necessary equipment and allowed them to sign several cooperation agreements on seasonal workers , services and use of premises.
The production capacity of vinegars and syrups was scaled up for sale at fairs, farm shops and also through big suppliers across Estonia.
Vinegar production has increased from 35 to 6 300 litres.
The producers have already won several awards including best regional food.
