The Estonian Rural Network is open for everyone that has an interest in rural development. They believe that flexibility is the greatest strength in supporting rural development programme implementation.

NSU operation

The Estonian NRN defined four objectives in line with the mandatory objectives set by EU Regulation No 1305/2013:
To improve the quality of RDP implementation
To increase the involvement of stakeholders
To facilitate the promotion of innovation in agriculture, food processing, forestry and in rural areas

Who can join the network?
The Estonian NRN is open for everyone that has an interest in rural development.

The NSU and the Managing Authority
The Estonian NSU is part of the Rural Economy Research Centre (which is a pubic body managed by the Ministry of Rural Affairs/ Managing Authority (MA)).
The NRN´s general activity plan is presented yearly to the Ministry along with the RDP Technical Assistance plan.
The MA and the NSU also coordinate on communication actions within the RDP communication group (see below). 
The NSU and the Monitoring Committee
A representative of the Rural Economy Research Centre is a member of the RDP Monitoring Committee (MC).
The NSU activities are presented under the MC agenda item, including activities under the general RDP communication activity plan and strategy.

The Estonian Rural Network Support Unit (NSU) has up to 10 employees. The NSU organises the Cooperation Chamber meetings, which take place at least twice per year.
The Cooperation Chamber (up to 30 organisations and RDP technical staff):
coordinates the NRN activities and links them to RDP goals, 
advises the NSU when preparing and implementing the NRN action plan. 

Permanent working-groups on LEADER, short supply chain and innovation.
