Burial Habits

The project focuses on traditions and customs associated with traditional burial, the last farewell to the deceased persons. Its main purpose is to support traditional habits and places, where those habits developed. The impacts of the projects will affect the quality of life of the local residents. The long term impact of the project will be a restoration of cultural monuments and awareness of their regional identity. Target groups are local habitants. The benefit from the project will enjoy also the visitors of the region.

Traditional burial habits are currently not as popular as in the past, they are replaced by modern form of burials. Disappearance of traditional habits form normal life depletes regional culture and destroys possibilities of their usage for tourism.

Key measures: • Renovation of two churches, where the traditional burial habits take place, including installation of new outdoor furniture; • Analysis of traditional burial customs and habits; • Publication of brochures about traditional burial habits and churches; • Organisation of six lectures on the theme.
