Enhancing the sustainable tourism offer through geoheritage promotion and geotrail development
The project will promote geoheritage by linking geosites and geomorphosites with other aspects of our natural and human heritage and land use, and enhance our sustainable tourism visitor experience through the use of site interpretation panels and development of geotrails.
The South Devon Coastal LAG area has both sedimentary and folded volcanic rocks and also has coastal landforms and rias resulting from periglacial activity and sea level changes. The area is protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coast.
The proposer is seeking partners in any part of Europe who wish to promote geodiversity and develop geotourism in their territories for exchange of ideas, possibly to carry out linked feasibility work (using small grant funds) and to develop a cooperation project involving two or more territories possibly with a common geological theme that extends across the territories. The project is at an early stage so please email giving details of your territory and any interest you have.
