Private accommodation’s in rural areas

We would like to find one cooperation partner that has experience and/or some sort of organisations for private tourist accommodations. Our aim is that small accommodation owners together visit another country and share experience to develop their concept. Participants share and learn from each other and of course get cultural exchange. The projects participants will summarise what the best practice is for establishing a rural private accommodation during the two seminars, one in each country. The project shall also discuss marketing and how to reach visitors abroad. The project might find way for marketing each other’s accommodations and inspire locals for a holiday abroad.

Timråbygd is a small LEADER territory in the middle of Sweden situated between two cities with 18 000 inhabitants and a territory with both coastline and wilderness. We have had during two seasons a project about getting more private accommodation for tourists and visitors. The aim has been to establish more small accommodations in rural areas like cottages, pensions or bed&breakfasts. Participants were mostly private persons, but there were also some small businesses. Due to the Swedish regulations, businesses might now be able to participate.

• Objective: Evolve the concept for private accommodation, exchange of ideas and experience; • Target group: Private accommodation owners such as small pensions, B&B or cottages; • Activates: Participants in the project will travel to each other’s areas, visit others small private accommodations and attend a one day seminar in each country.

Partner and participants must be English speaking, not perfect but understandable. The area has to have private accommodations for tourist in rural areas. We also not like our partner to be a too big LEADER area, since the differences between us will be too big. Since we are in the beginning of building up tourism, we would like to find partners with similar situation. We always do our projects at very low cost and would like to do so even here. It is a low budget project and each country stands for their own participants travel costs and the arrangements for a day seminars and a tour to visit different accommodations. The participating accommodation owners invite one of the foreign participants for free to their own accommodation.
