Open Farms network / “ Réseau des fermes ouvertes ”

The “Open Farms Network” was created in 2004 by agricultors of Périgord Vert (France / Dordogne) to explain their work to citizens. Now with the new LEADER, LAG Perigord Vert plans to enhance the partnership to other French and European LAGs. To be well understood, farmers are volunteers. It is a non-profit action. It is not a commercial action to sell products.

The “Open Farms Network” was created in 2004 & since then, they have been leading a communication plan on farmer’s profession. Their aims are to explain their job to citizens, in order to show the natural environment they work in. Actions led by the network since 2004: Communication training for farmers to welcome of people in their farm; Common program of visits in summer; Cultural events in the farms; Photographic competition; Creation of a graphic charter; DVD on the network activities etc

The current partners are looking for intersted project partners from different European territories (preferably LEADER) to lead new actions to facilitate and create a good relationship between farmers and citizens.
