A joint event organised by Birdlife Europe and the European Environment Bureau (EEB) on 11 May 2017 saw discussion, ideas and recommendations for the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with invited policy-makers, researchers and other civil society groups.
Researchers presented an independent ‘CAP fitness check’ commissioned by the NGOs, which highlighted several environmental criticisms of CAP implementation. Many participants called for a ‘rebuilt’ and not just ‘reformed’ CAP, placing issues of food quality and public and environmental health at the heart of the objectives.
