This ENRD workshop focused on the designation of ‘Areas facing natural or other specific constraints’ (ANCs) by programme authorities.
It covered many aspects related to the implementation of the new ANCs system, specifically focusing on techniques for applying biophysical criteria and fine-tuning, as well as on payment schemes. The workshop further addressed the challenges currently faced by programme authorities in the preparation of their ANCs designation and explored different approaches to ANCs in detail.
The event gathered around 80 national and regional Managing Authorities and Paying Agencies, as well as DG AGRI Desk Officers. It provided a platform for a useful discussion on ANCs elaboration, approval and implementation and an exchange of experiences from Member States and regions.
The workshop was jointly organised by DG AGRI and the ENRD Contact Point in collaboration with the EU Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC).
