Greening the Rural Economy

‘Greening the Rural Economy’ is one of the broad themes of the European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) in the 2014-2020 programming period.

This theme directly links to the following two EU Rural Development policy priorities:

Priority 4: Restoring, preserving and enhancing ecosystems related to agriculture and forestry.

Priority 5: Promoting resource efficiency and supporting the shift towards a low carbon and climate resilient economy in agriculture, food and forestry sectors.

So far, work under the theme of ‘Greening the Rural Economy’ 2014-2020 has focused on the following sub-themes:

• European Green Deal and Rural Areas
• Bioeconomy and Climate Action in Rural Areas
• Transition to the Green Economy
• Resource Efficiency
• Water and Soil Management
