NRN INFORMATION

The English National Rural Network

The Rural Network has been fully operational since April 2008.

The purpose of the network is to support the delivery of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). This is achieved by providing. The purpose of the network is to support the delivery of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). This is achieved by providing .

The network aims to ensure that stakeholders and users play a central role in influencing the structure and activities of the network. As a result, the service provided by the network has been developed on the basis of stakeholder needs, with stakeholder involvement.

The network also provides stakeholders with a link to information and further Activities within the UK and European networks.

Network Participants

The RDPE is delivered within eight different English regions and the RDPE Network is developing network activities with stakeholders at UK, national and regional levels. It has developed close working relationships with the regional RDPE Managing Groups and stakeholders, at both regional and sub-regional level. These include: national networks such as the Rural Services Network and National Farmers Union; RDPE delivery organisations, such as Regional Development Agencies, Natural England, and the Forestry Commission; regional networks such as the Northern Rural Network and the 65 LAGs. UK level stakeholders include the Carnegie Commission, Managing Authorities (MAs) in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as Rural Networks in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

NRN Activities

NRN action plan include: activities facilitating interaction (exchange of ideas, experience and practice) between those interested in the RDPE; further development of the RDPE website; updating the RDPE Network’s monitoring and evaluation systems; as well as, refreshing and implementing strategies for stakeholder engagement and communications activities.
