The Danish National Rural Network supports the implementation of the national Rural Development Programme (RDP) and improves coherence between axes of the RDP, the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) and other EU programmes. The Danish National Rural Network has been fully operational since March 1st, 2007.

The National Rural Network (NRN) is located within the Ministry of Housing, Urban and Rural Affairs which has the overall responsibility of the RDP as well as the Fisheries Development Programme. Its structure includes a National Network Unit (NNU), which operates as a national secretariat for the NRN as well as for the FARNET (established in the framework of the EFF programme).

The main tasks of the Danish NRN are to improve the knowledge and circulation of information among the different actors involved in rural development, to support the acquisition of skills and the improvement of the quality of the rural economy.
