NRN INFORMATION

The Bulgarian National Rural Network

The Bulgarian National Rural Network’s (NRN) activities are coordinated by the Rural Development Directorate, which is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The NRN Managing Unit is outsourced and the external body undertaking this function is selected by the RDP Managing Authority, following a competitive tender procedure.

The main purpose of the Bulgarian Rural Network is to support and accelerate the implementation of the Rural Development Programme (RDP). The main goal of the NRN Management Unit is to provide technical support, as well as operational and information coordination between NRN participants.

The main tasks of the Bulgarian NRN are to promote the exchange of information and knowledge among network members, to support cooperation activities and strengthen the capacity of Local Action Groups (LAGs).

Network Participants

NRN membership is open to all representative stakeholder organisations, with a direct or indirect interest in rural development.

Administrative participants are - the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Paying Agency and their regional and local structures, other Ministries and their regional structures related to the development of rural areas, municipalities and town councils, the National and Regional Association of Municipalities in Rural Areas and information business centres under the regional municipalities.

NRN Activities

The main activities of the network are set out in the action plan for 2011-2013, approved by the Monitoring Committee. The annual priorities are established in the work programme, which was approved by the Monitoring Committee on the 4th of May 2010.
