NRN INFORMATION

Wales Rural Network

The Wales Rural Network enables members (policy-makers, local groups or organisations) to identify and share good practice, ideas and experience. The Wales Rural Network has been fully operational since April 2008.

The Welsh Assembly Government hosts the Managing Authority (MA) and has also set up a team to manage and run the Wales Rural Network. The network is based within the Rural Policy Unit, a part of the Countryside Policy Division, in the Department of Rural Affairs & Heritage.

The Wales Rural Network is targeted at those involved in the design, management and implementation of the Rural Development Programme (RDP). It enables members (policy-makers, local groups or organisations) to identify and share good practice, ideas and experience.

Network Participants

Membership of the Wales Rural Network is open and wide-ranging and involves all key stakeholder organisations, active in the delivery of the RDP and rural development. The NRN covers all four axes and is monitored by the network Steering Group and includes local bodies, including all 18 Local Action Groups, partnerships and organisations from the agricultural, food and forestry sectors, as well as farming associations and agri-environment technical and scientific institutions.
