Development and promotion of sustainable initiatives promoting the Szombathely path, European cultural route of “Saint Martin”

LAGs Loire Nature, Touraine Côté Sud and Loire Touraine, in partnership with the European Cultural Center of Saint Martin in Tours, want to emphasize itinerary and heritage linked to Saint Martin in order to make local population and tourists discover them. The project aims to develop and promote exemplary actions near the Szombathely path (which go through Hungary, Slovenia, Italy and France) and which themes are linked to: biodiversity, disabled passenger, sustainable agriculture, and cultural heritage. The goal of this project is to bring to the foreground a sustainable and responsible tourism center on the promotion of material and immaterial heritage of Saint Martin.

The mission of the European Cultural Center of Saint Martin in Tours is to develop the European hiking trails on the steps of Saint Martin, and to set up initiatives in the fields of cultural tourism and sustainable development. The four path created are labeled “Grand Itinéraire Culturel du Conseil de l’Europe”. Within the 1700th anniversary of Saint Martin’s birth in 2016, the European Cultural Center of Saint Martin is working on the development of Szombathely path. The aim is to make of this path of more than 2000km (1240miles) a route of the XXIth century: exemplary, social and environmental.

Development and networking of animations, exemplary projects on the path of Szombathely, experience exchanges on themes linked to sustainable tourism (accessibility, local products, biodiversity, heritage), joint promotion of exemplary actions.
