The European Commission published today, 29 November 2017, its Communication on the ‘Future of Food and Farming – for a flexible, fair and sustainable Common Agricultural Policy’ (CAP).
The document outlines simpler rules and a more flexible approach to ensure that CAP delivers results in supporting farmers and leads the sustainable development of EU agriculture. It provides for greater responsibilities for Member States to choose how and where to invest their CAP funding in order to meet common goals on environment, climate change and sustainability.
The Commission will put forward legislative proposals giving effect to the goals outlined in the Communication before the summer of 2018.
