Due to their priceless cultural and natural heritage, rural areas are attractive for tourists who, more and more, look for authentic experiences and search the contact with nature, people and local identity.

Project idea summary: 

Due to their priceless cultural and natural heritage, rural areas are attractive for tourists who, more and more, look for authentic experiences and search the contact with nature, people and local identity.

EURECOTOUR project aims to facilitate the development of sustainable tourism in rural areas through the creation of eco-friendly and sustainable villages (“diffused hotels”)
This specific objective will be pursued through the implementation of common actions, which consist in the training of stakeholders, exchange of good practices and creation and promotion of an international network of rural Tourism ecovillages, and local activities.

Objectives: 

Specific objective of ERECOTOUR project is to promote the creation of eco-friendly tourism villages. (Ecovillages) for the sustainable development (social, environmental and economic) of rural areas.

Common actions to be implemented are:
- Organisation of international seminars and training courses of eco-villages and best practices related to sustainable tourism in Europe and in the world;
- Creation of a specific international network and brand of rural tourism eco-villages;
- Joint promotion of the new network (logo, social media, and web);
- joining the international and European networks of eco-villages already operating.
