Institution overall role: Finnish ProAgria is a member-owned advisory organisation with 16 regional advisory centres nationwide, a staff of 685 (660 in the field) and a membership base of 113 000. The group provides advisory and development services for members and customers aiming at added value, quality, competitiveness and improving productivity in their operations.
Role and priorities/objectives in knowledge transfer & innovation: ProAgria operational priorities include:
- Advisory services based on face-to-face advice on the farm and a rapidly increasing number of e-services
- An on-line advisor registry where the client can search for an advisor and make an appointment
- The advisor charges the client for services
- Overall advisor skill development is supported through an integrated knowledge management system and Advisor Academy for in-service training
Additionally nationwide expert teams form a separate organization within the ProAgria group for complementary service provision.
