Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF)

Institution overall role: The umbrella association of national forest owner organizations in Europe, CEPF works as the representative of family forestry by promoting the values of sustainable forest management and private property ownership.

Role and priorities/objectives in knowledge transfer & innovation: CEPF aims to assist and strengthen an economically viable, socially beneficial, culturally valuable and ecologically responsible sustainable management of private forests. Knowledge transfer and innovation are important elements of the approach.

CEPF acts as an important bridge enabling family forest owners from the local level to voice concerns and provide knowledge to the European level as contributions to policy development. Innovation is nurtured through knowledge sharing activities, and CEPF is a partner to projects funded under the 7th Framework Programme. The organisation strives to ensure research results can be used and will be beneficial for family forest owners.

Research & innovation links: Current projects involving CEPF can be viewed at this site: https://www.cepf-eu.org/organisation.cfm?ID_kanal=31.

They are private individuals and families who take care of more than 50% of the forest area within Europe.
