Summary
The Finnish Society for Rural Research and Development – Rural New Time, promotes Finnish rural research, rural development work and interaction between rural researchers and developers through annual meeting of rural researchers and fora. It issues proposals to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding agricultural structural support, rural development and research, and funding for agricultural and food industry research, statements pertaining to rural policy programmes. This year a new meeting on rural research is held, where the researchers are invited to discuss the essence of rural research and the need and benefit we can get from it. Rural research has been identified as a means of rural policy and national rural research and development projects. Discussions are scheduled on topics like: research funding and the relationship between rural development and the future, but also on different topics such as food and travel, research methods, rural housing, natural resources.

Main purpose
The meeting aims at promoting the rural development through the lenses of the experts and researchers that study the rural areas, by discussing at brainstorming on the rural research areas. Rural research is seen not a unique discipline, but a whole multitude of interdisciplinary approaches and methods that focus on the countryside, its inhabitants, and rural development phenomena. The meeting welcomes all experts in rural development, government officers, students.

Technical information
Two days event. On each day agenda are presentations and working groups. Leisure activities are scheduled in order to help attendants to enjoy social networking and outdoor activities to get familiar with Finnish environment. The meeting is welcome to all the rural experts and interested persons. Fee between. 55€ - 65€.
