Seminar on “Successful Programming”
Brussels, Belgium: 6-7 December 2012

Brief summary

The seminar, which brought together rural development administrators and organisations around Europe, coincided with the finalisation of work carried out by the ENRD in preparation for the next rural development programming period. The seminar was inspired by a number of workshops organised throughout 2012 by the ENRD, such as the strategic programming and monitoring and evaluation of RDPs in 2014-2020 which was held in March, the Community-Led Local Development workshop in June and the workshops on the future of rural networking and on financial engineering instruments in September and October. In addition, ENRD Focus Groups have been launched to explore how RDPs have dealt with rural development priorities in order to provide recommendations for the future.

Taking stock of what had been discussed during the year, this seminar focused on how the collected knowledge and experience, as well as cross-cutting priorities related to innovation, environment and climate change, can be incorporated in future RDPs. It also looked at the different steps to be undertaken to improve programme design and implementation in the next programming period.
