Relocation and Modernisation of a Honey-Making Company in Attica
A leading company in the production of honey will relocate and modernise its buildings and equipment and thus enhance the efficiency of its operations, optimise productivity and meet storage needs while increasing the quality of the final product.
Established as a small family business in 1928, the company has grown over time to become the largest Greek business in the sector with the most modern honey producing and packaging facilities and quality control laboratories. The dominant business strategy has always been centred on the provision of a genuine, high quality product at an affordable price. This approach has contributed to the transformation of the business into today's modern and dynamic company that strives for excellence through continuous modernisation and adaptation to market needs and trends.
The overall objective is for the company to maintain its leadership position, branding and image in the honey sector and to potentially increase its market share. Specific objectives include: a) the provision of a high quality, healthy and nutritious product packaged by a company whose main concern is to care for the health of the consumer; b) more efficient quality control of the honey supplied by beekeepers; c) the protection of the environment; and d) safeguarding health & safety.
The project involves relocation of the production plant to an existing, larger company premises and includes investment in building modernisation, landscaping, mechanical and other equipment for the processing of raw materials and the production and packaging of honey; office and laboratory equipment. All new equipment will be organised to ensure optimal operation and minimisation of problems related to internal transportation of raw materials and final products.
Results & Benefits
The investment contributes to the concentration of all stages of production, more efficient management of company resources and improved quality of products. It also means more efficient company organisation at all levels with a consequent reduction in costs and waiting times. The modernisation of the laboratory ensures more effective quality control of the raw material and final products. Environmental benefits derive from waste treatment and the energy efficiency of new equipment.
A key success factor for the project is the commitment of the company to continuous quality improvement of its products and adaptation of its product offering to consumer needs. Product quality is embedded in the philosophy of the company and enables it to grow while satisfying both producers and customers. Close cooperation and provision of advice to beekeepers are also factors that will contribute to the results of the investment.
