Audiovisual and Media:
Awareness raising, Local Action Group, Local development strategy, Participatory approach, Peri-urban
An innovative yet simple approach to communicating ideas, this short video shows how rural development planning can work using good participatory approaches. With no voice-over and limited text (in SE & EN), it shows brief sequences of interaction between a LAG representative and local rural people.
& RDP Region(s)
The main aim of the short video is to promote the idea of good levels and types of consultation during planning to conclude a strategy for local development that locals feel reflects their needs and that they feel ownership of.
The video is one of a range of outcomes from a thematic working group within the Swedish NRN. In addition to this motivation video the group has:
a. Conducted a survey of local municipalities about rural issues in the spatial planning process;
b. Written and arranged publication of an article in national newspapers advocating the need for a rural dimension in spatial planning;
c. Written and arranged publication of a “fiction article” how the planning process could be in an ideal municipality;
d. Produced six leaflets about good practices from different municipalities.
