Rural Revitalisation

On 30 June 2021, the European Commission put forward the Vision for rural areas in 2040, identifying the challenges and concerns that they are facing, as well as highlighting some of the most promising opportunities that are available to these territories. The ambition of the vision is to revitalise rural areas so that by 2040 they are stronger, more connected, resilient and prosperous. There are already relevant strategic initiatives designed and implemented at national, regional and local levels which aim to revitalise rural areas.

In this context, the ENRD implemented a Thematic Group (TG) on Rural Revitalisation with the aim to:

- identify and understand the key enabling conditions to drive rural revitalisation across Europe (e.g. governance, policy alignment, cooperation, innovation, etc.), share best practice; in addition,

- explore the needs, and develop ideas and recommendations, to help shape the future rural revitalisation platform to be developed by the European Commission.
