This edition focuses on networX – the Brussels meeting on 11-12 April 2019 was the largest gathering of the rural development networking community in the current programming period. The key messages from networX are highlighted as are the winners of the first ever ENRD Rural Inspiration Awards.

Members of the Rural Development community who are making a positive difference in rural areas are featured in the ‘Rural perspectives’ section, including great examples of social and digital communications – from Ireland and at European level – and transnational cooperation projects in the tourism sector targeting a new kind of tourist and a report detailing the positive impact of the CAP on rural development in Poland. The regular news round-up includes the latest on the ENRD’s thematic work on Smart Villages and the Bioeconomy and a report on new rural credit services.

This summary overviews the approach to multi-funded Community-led Local Development of an Austrian Local Action Group (LAG).
The example was presented at an ENRD Seminar on LEADER/CLLD.

This edition focuses on communications uncovering the latest thinking from rural networkers while profiling some great examples of communication using digital channels, on-farm knowledge exchange and marketing initiatives to support Rural Development policy implementation.

The edition also includes the regular news and updates from the ENRD and the EU, as well as a collection of rural perspectives delving into topics ranging from bioeconomy value chains in Southern European countries, to initiatives to improve rural broadband, to a World Bank economic report that demonstrates how the CAP benefits the rural economy and drives growth.

This issue highlights the relevance of EU Rural Development policy to wider societal challenges and the practical opportunities to deliver the greatest positive impact on the ground. It focuses on responses to the challenges of limited rural broadband internet access, global climate change and the current refugee crisis. It goes on to explore some of the new and developing EU policy tools: multi-funded CLLD; the European Fund for Strategic Investments; and the RDP Cooperation Measure.

This guidance is intended to help the authorities in EU Member States to create the conditions for effectively using CLLD in their  2014-2020 Partnership Agreements and to design it in their respective programmes.
It was issued by four Directorates-General of the European Commission.
This is the main report on the key findings of the ENRD survey of Local Action Groups (LAGs) on LEADER/CLLD implementation, carried out by the ENRD Contact Point in November 2017.
Explore the survey findings at both the European and national levels, drawing on LAGs’ implementation experiences and suggestions on how these can be improved.
This guidance is intended to provide those directly involved in Local Action Groups some practical tools and suggestions for implementing CLLD in a range of contexts.
It was issued at the start of the 2014-2020 programming period and complements the guidance on 'Community-led Local Development in European Structural and Investment Funds'.

This issue is dedicated to the theme of ‘improving RDP implementation’ and aims to help RDP authorities and other rural development stakeholders understand and focus on important RDP requirements and implementation tools. It addresses issues such as keeping RDPs focused on their agreed outcomes, simplifying their implementation, boosting financial performance, and launching Operational Groups.
