This document identifies how climate benefits can be optimised at different stages of support for rural bioeconomy in the CAP Strategic Plans (CAP SPs). It was produced in the frame of the ENRD Thematic Group on Bioeconomy and climate action in rural areas.

This briefing provides references to a selection of planning tools to help practitioners, local decision-makers, and community groups to design and develop sustainable rural services. Even though the focus is clearly set on rural services, each tool can equally fit other types of intervention.

This is the highlights report of the 12th TG meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group (TG) on 'Smart Villages'.

The TG organised the last lab to provide space for other Member States to share ideas and pose questions about how they are proposing to support Smart Villages in their own countries. The Managing Authorities (MAs) of Austria, Ireland and Slovenia presented their ideas for supporting their villages through a dedicated framework in the CAP Strategic Plan.

This is the highlights report of the ENRD seminar on Climate Action and Resilient Rural Economy. It takes stock of the lessons learned concerning the contribution of the Rural Development Programmes (RDPs) to a climate resilient, low-carbon economy in Europe’s rural areas. Reflections were shared based on the work carried out by the ENRD Thematic Group on Bioeconomy and Climate Action in Rural Areas.

The factsheet overviews the challenges faced by rural businesses, specific tailor-made responses and smart business-support tools, the practice of business accelerators, and Rural Development Programme (RDP) support.
It was prepared as background material for the ENRD Seminar on ‘Revitalising Rural Areas through Business Innovation’ (Brussels, March 2017).
This document compiles over 35 projects related to the topic of 'Smart Villages'. All projects have been kindly provided by the members of the ENRD dedicated Thematic Group (TG).

This edition gives a lot of attention to what happened at the major European Conference on Rural Development in Cork, Ireland 5-6 September 2016 – known as ‘Cork 2.0’. The thematic section has “A focus on… Cork 2.0", providing an overview of the event, the main messages of the workshops, the resulting ‘Cork 2.0 Declaration’ in full and a series of 20 different participant reactions.

The edition also includes the regular “News and updates” from the ENRD and the EU as well as the usual “Rural issues, Rural perspectives” section. This features a range of stakeholder voices on topics ranging from transnational cooperation to local consultation and from a growing European network of artists to the first ever rural digital hub in Ireland.

This inventory was put together by the ENRD Thematic Group on 'Sustainable Management of Water and Soils' (2017-2018).
It overviews various initiatives in terms of challenges, lessons learned and recommendations, including on ways of making better use of public support.
