This is the report of the ENRD LEADER Thematic Lab on 'Smart Villages'.

This first LEADER Thematic Lab considered  the ways that LEADER and Smart Villages can work together and how LEADER can effectively support Smart Village development. Local practitioners from across the EU shared experiences and lessons learned and discussed possible inputs for the future CAP Strategic Plans.

Diversi portatori di interesse delle zone rurali si sono riuniti per condividere esempi pratici di iniziative di bioeconomia nei territori rurali dell’Unione europea e discutere sul ruolo degli strumenti delle politiche UE per incentivare iniziative sostenibili in questo ambito nelle zone rurali. In base alle conclusioni dei partecipanti, i tre principali elementi per promuovere lo sviluppo della bioeconomia sono il potenziamento delle capacità, la cooperazione e un approccio olistico alla sostenibilità.

This is the main report of the eighth meeting of the ENRD Thematic Group (TG) on 'Smart Villages'. 

It provides information about how a specific village (Lormes, France) has embarked on a participative process to co-design a ‘village of the future’ and the way they have built different components of the local ‘digital ecosystem’. The report also outlines similar initiatives and plans for developing local digital ecosystems in Germany, Spain and Donegal (Ireland).
