This edition of the EAFRD Projects Brochure illustrates how the mainstreaming of the bioeconomy is being accelerated by Rural Development Programmes (RDPs) around Europe.

A sustainable bioeconomy, while it benefits everyone, has particular relevance for rural communities. The twelve projects featured in this Projects Brochure illustrate how RDPs are helping rural communities seize the opportunities offered by the bioeconomy through the production of sustainable food and feed, innovative bio-based products, renewable energy, environmentally sustainable growth and awareness raising.

This is the highlights report of the ENRD Workshop on 'Combatting Rural Depopulation: Cretaing new opportunities for vibrant rural areas'. 

It overviews the key drivers and effects of population decline in rural areas across the EU, looking at the role of the Rural Development Programmes (RDPs) and other EU policies and instruments in order to help create an enabling rural environment. It explores examples of projects contributing to the creation of business opportunities and the improvement of services and quality of life in rural communities, as well as examples of integrated approaches that can help combat rural depopulation.

This is the main report of the ENRD Workshop on ‘Generational Renewal: Attracting Young Farmers and Entrepreneurs in Rural Areas’.

This workshop was part of the activities carried out under the ENRD thematic work on Generational Renewal and Social Inclusion. It included an overview of practices supporting young farmers and new entrants, land mobility and access to land in different Member States.

Vorgestellt wird ein Projekt, in dessen Rahmen eine österreichische lokale Aktionsgruppe (LAG) Sprachunterricht, Konfliktbewältigung, Jugendtraining und soziale Einbindung für Migranten und Asylbewerber anbietet (mehr dazu hier).

Das Beispiel kam auf einem ENRD-Seminar zum Thema LEADER/CLLD zur Sprache.

Der Bericht wurde von der ENRD-Themengruppe „Nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung von Wasser und Böden“ (2017-2018) erstellt.

Neben den Ausführungen über das genannte Thema enthält er Empfehlungen, wie sich die Fördermittel aus dem Europäischen Landwirtschaftsfonds für die Entwicklung des ländlichen Raums (ELER) am besten einsetzen lassen.
