Given that compost for growing oyster mushrooms was not produced in Romania and had to be imported, a group of farmers used EAFRD to build a plant for producing compost using their own wheat straw.
A small commune in Romania used EAFRD support to restore and promote its local landmark: a botanical garden, and design a training programme on environmental aspects for young farmers.
Natural potential of rural areas often remains unexploited. In Estonia the construction of a water themed park generated interest in the countryside and attracted visitors through promoting eco-tourism and environmental education.
