Projects & Practice
A family farm that breeds the protected Marchigiana cows received Measure 14 - Animal welfare support to improve the way their livestock are maintained.
The Digitally Visiting project has pioneered digital skill development in Central Finland. The project has demonstrated that there is a large need for local digital support to develop residents’ digital skills, especially in remote rural regions. The project encouraged and guided rural residents to use electronic services and so has contributed to making rural living in Central Finland more appealing.
A rural women’s association used Rural Development Programme (RDP) support to organise wool processing training courses and to create employment opportunities by valorising wool, a by-product of sheep meat production.
A livestock farmer received training and undertook a consultation to find out how to improve animal welfare on his farm.
A dairy company used RDP support to build a new wing on its factory in order to increase its production capacity. This investment strengthened the local supply chains and helps prevent the abandonment of the farming activity in the area.
The Rural Broadband project is a national intervention to close the digital divide in remote and sparsely populated rural ‘white areas’.
On-farm processing can add value to the product and can also make farming a more attractive choice for young farmers - as demonstrated by a berry farm in Finland.
A small, remote rural community of around 1 300 inhabitants in Finland launched a Digi-Hub for the elderly.
A cooperation project to promote the consumption of locally produced beef and create economic and environmental benefits.
