An EIP operational group investigated the use of insect larvae in fish, chicken, and pig feed as an environmentally friendly substitute for imported soy and fishmeal.
The genetic integrity of two species of traditional Lithuanian sheep breeds is being protected by agri-environment and climate RDP funds on a certified organic family farm which sells the sheep’s meat and wool and offspring, as well as uses the traditional breed as a unique rural tourism attraction.
Operation M10.1.19 focuses on result-oriented and focused Rural Development Programme (RDP) interventions to stabilise endangered habitats, species and plants and thus reverse the decline of biodiversity in Austria’s agricultural regions.
Supporting this environmentally sound and biodiversity-promoting management action is one of the most successful operations of the Austrian Agri-Environmental-Climate Scheme.
