The world's first Observation Station for studying the sounds of northern lights, auroras, has been built at the Hankasalmi Observatory in the small village of Murtoinen in Central Finland - with support from LEADER.
The distance use of the station is possible from abroad thanks to modern equipment. The concept is a perfect example of how to utilise the advantages of rural areas, such as darkness, silence and nature.
EAFRD funding was used to purchase part of the equipment.
