The European Economic & Social Committee (EESC) continues to raise awareness about the Long-term vision for rural areas and its follow-up Rural Pact. This includes observing how EU rural communities compare in relation to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Lidija Pavić-Rogošić is the rapporteur for the EESC’s opinion on the Long-term vision for rural areas and she is closely following the Rural Pact’s progress. She has been a member of the Croatian Network for Rural Development since its early days and was a founder of Croatia first LEADER Local Action Group. Her EESC role involves raising awareness about the EU’s enablement of Agenda 2030 actions and she advocates sustainable rural transformation so that no one is left behind in the EU’s prosperity. She and the EESC believe that “rural inequality and inequality between rural and urban areas need to be addressed, and respect for the political voice and concerns of the rural population must be part of a process aimed at improving their lives.”
