The event will overview upcoming Horizon 2020 calls for proposals under Societal Challenge 2 ‘Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy’. It will also feature events showcasing projects and initiatives on digitisation and the bioeconomy.
This annual event and its related Call for Organic Innovations are targeted at farmers, researchers and companies developing innovative solutions to: improving soil quality in organic arable farming; appropriate and robust livestock systems; and innovation for sustainable diets.
The event will discuss the challenges Europe faces in rolling out broadband, specifically in rural and sub-urban areas, as well as the opportunities connectivity offers in bridging the digital divide.
The event aims to boost social innovation in Europe as a good, cost-effective way to advance inclusive and wealth-creating public policies. It will bring together a wide range of actors, including world-class scientists, innovators, social entrepreneurs, civil society representatives, national and regional policy-makers, venture capitalists and more.
The regional conference, organised by the Forum for the Future of Agriculture will provide the opportunity to discuss agriculture and environment at the Bulgarian national level. Three discussion panels will address topics such as the Sustainable Development Goals, future of Common Agriculture Policy, and competitiveness and environment protection in the Bulgarian agriculture landscape.
The event will bring together farmers, policy-makers and agriculture and food industry experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities of sustainable food production and how it can be best linked to innovation and industry potential.
The forum will discuss the roadmap for bio-based Europe and the strategic context of the BBI initiative and achievements, lessons learned and sector development. About 65 ongoing projects will present their work in the permanent exhibition.
The event will explore environmental and business opportunities arising from the bioeconomy for a wide range of industries, as well as the investment steps that need to be taken in order to build a sustainable future.
