The sixteenth meeting of the European Rural Networks’ Steering Group (SG) enabled participants to exchange on the latest developments on the CAP Reform and other relevant EU Policy initiatives, including the Long Term Vision for Rural Areas. The meeting also provided an update on planned and forthcoming rural networks’ activities, and a discussion on preliminary ideas about governance arrangements for the future EU CAP Network.
The aim of this virtual meeting was to cover recent actions in the consultation process on the Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas, reflecting on NRN activities during Rural Vision Week, and NRN role in supporting communication and stakeholder involvement around the Vision. The meeting will provided the opportunity to reflect on specific activities from preceding NRN meetings and workshops that can add value to future networking.
The ENRD Contact Point (CP) organised an online workshop to discuss some operational aspects of designing a CAP Strategic Plan (CSP). The meeting was part of the series of events launched by the ENRD CP to support the preparations for the CSPs, and it was primarily addressed to future CSP Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies and other relevant national experts involved in CSP design.
The ENRD Contact Point organised a workshop to explore LEADER’s positive, long-term impacts in rural areas and discuss how its added-value can be maximised in the future through better partnerships, local development strategies, and local projects and initiatives under the CAP Strategic Plans.
As part of the European Social Economy Summit - Mannheim 2021, the European Commission and the ENRD co-organise this workshop on social inclusion. Rural areas face a number of challenges, in particular for ensuring access to services. The session will address how far rural social enterprises and social innovation can help overcoming the shortage of public investments and public service delivery in rural areas.

The meeting explored tested experiences of promoting the green transition at the local or sub-regional level, including EAFRD-funded projects as well as other territorial initiatives. Participants discussed the factors that have led to the successful engagement and uptake of sustainable practices and reflected on the lessons that can be learnt from these experiences for the design and implementation of the CAP Strategic Plans.
