The ENRD Contact Point organised a workshop to explore LEADER’s positive, long-term impacts in rural areas and discuss how its added-value can be maximised in the future through better partnerships, local development strategies, and local projects and initiatives under the CAP Strategic Plans.
The meeting was an opportunity to update LEADER Sub-group members on the state of play of LEADER implementation and Commission initiatives relating to LEADER, as well as on recent and planned ENRD Contact Point activities related to LEADER.
The seventh meeting of the European Rural Networks’ Assembly Sub-group on LEADER/CLLD discussed the state-of-play of proposals relating to LEADER/CLLD in the post-2020 CAP Strategic Plans. An update on the progress of LEADER implementation was also given.
This ENRD workshop explored the causes for both ‘risk averse’ and ‘opportunity seeking’ attitudes towards local innovation and sought to identify the factors which would contribute to enhancing LEADER innovation.
The event discussed how business innovation can be used to revitalise rural areas, including EU policies and tools to support and existing practice to inspire future initiatives.
The workshop focused on the different ways in which Local Action Groups (LAGs) and other actors can strengthen and improve LEADER’s contribution to rural innovation at local, regional, national and EU levels by extending its scope, raising ambitions and reinforcing links with other rural innovation activities.
The event focused on how to make the best possible use of the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) method supported under Rural Development (EAFRD), Fisheries (EMFF), Regional Development (ERDF) and Social (ESF) Funds.
