Context:

The LAG territory presents 2 specifications: an important surface dedicated to agriculture (80% of the surface still occupied by agricultural activities) and a Natural Park which covers 2/3 of the territory.
Traditionally, Belgium is also known for its production of beers. Barley and hops are hard to produce, and are major ingredients in it’s production. Today, a local brewery offers us an opportunity to develop and create new breweries.

Project idea summary:

The project is based on two observations: on one hand, a demand from brewers for local raw material and, on the other hand, the need to diversify our farms. In the face of these facts, raw material (like hop) and barley can constitute an innovative potential development.

Objectives:

Objectives: agricultural diversification, research and development around brewery sector in agriculture, promotion of short circuit products, creation of new local products with high added value, support for local economic and touristic development.
Targets groups : microbreweries, farmers, processors ans consumers.
